One way to work around the administrative overhead of too many grants is to apply for larger pots of money but do it collaboratively with more senior professors who have experience. I personally didn't take any military or NIH funding, just NSF, industry, and foundations.

Turns out most of the drs who did have chatgpt didn't really use it. They treated it as a search engine. Also, drs were overly confident in their own intuitions.

Maybe if it's about people who do relevant research you would still get more or less the same people but it wouldn't visibly group them by identity more by interest and what they talk about.
