Genuinely not having one of these is usually why I don't pick up a DLC, I'm usually worried that if I want to do the DLC I'll have to play from the beginning to re-learn everything-- or fuck up my main save somehow from all the rust I haven't shaken off yet!

that's absolutely it! Frontload all the technical thinking so my mind can wander uninhibited~

it's good to learn boxes off of a grid, but it's also very useful to learn boxes freehand since the grid is only really useful as a measurement tool. Freehand boxes in perspective allows us to more accurately freehand entire compositions before we even have to think about measuring it!

Nope! After I do a page I check my work with a red pen to see how well my boxes line up, but they're all freehand and freeform.

Every time I do regular box warmups I eventually land on the same trick to ensure they're as accurate as possible, something I tried to explain in this post here!
Are you struggling to draw boxes that feel like they follow some sort of cohesive perspective? Do your boxes start off okay and then quickly devolve into nonsense?

Worry not, for I have a TUTORIAL that guarantees a PERFECT BOX 100% OF THE TIME!!! (for a brief moment, at least)

absolutely! At this stage of the game I don't need them all the time, but I can tell they're necessary when I start taking forever to "search" for my lines haha. It's a great opportunity to reset and get myself back in a drawing mood when I want to draw but don't feel creative just yet!

the problem of course is that I'm not always in the mood to draw 100 of anything lol, and unless I'm already significantly far in I try to listen to those instincts. Whether those instincts are telling me to draw something else or if those instincts are telling me not to draw at all, I trust me.

Plus it's very helpful to have a metric telling me how much I've done and how far I have to go. Reminds me to be patient if I'm early in, reminds me that my progress hasn't come from nothing later on, and reassures me that this practice does have an end point

100 skeletons, 100 dogs, 100 whatever~

One of my storyboard teachers once told me that she doesn't feel confident drawing a character from any and every angle, therefore doesn't feel confident doing what the job is asking of her, until she's drawn that character 100 times.

I've found that to also be very helpful in studying anything!

looks less like he's trying to hammer that nail so much as he's trying to gently encourage it lmaoooooo

I did not realize how funny this would be before watching it

Absolutely in love with every over the top screen wipe transition and how egregiously overused they are and honestly I wish I had the balls to be that forward in my work

They're making up for last year's mistake 😤

Oof, yeah. It's a very satisfying story overall but Haruka's situation is such a heavy whiplash from how the last one ended.

It doesn't help that it opens with the ending of 5 to remind you where she was at
