At 7:45: the Executive committee has recess and took no vote (there is no bill text to vote on; HCA3 has not been filed yet). They voted 8-4 yesterday to recommend the dead on arrival (HCA2). HCA3 is a floor amendment. So no committee hearing is needed. You'll see this next on the house floor.
At 6:45, SB2111 is now being discussed, thread on the subject mater hearing to follow here.
No new amendments have been released (which you'll see here ilga.gov/Legislation/...). The schedule lists the house floor amendment 2 as the one up for convo. The full house has not adopted this yet, so SB2111 is still the Senate's text for now.
I think it's really funny when transit agencies leave half of an entire route missing from their GTFS package. Whoops!

If any Austin locals follow me and have any insight please share!
The story of Project Connect light rail in Austin is super interesting & frustrating at the same time, especially when you look at it next to the gargantuan I-35 widening happening now too

Paper terrorism is usually an anti-governmental tactic used by individuals...
Federal govt keep denying bond hearings to immigrants even though the feds keep losing habeas petitions. Their goal is to make people desperate enough that they’ll sign up for voluntary deportation, inflict pain so people leave, even if they have deep ties and good records in USA
A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the U.S. government’s mandatory detention of Diana Patricia Santillana Galeano, the day care teacher arrested at a Chicago preschool, is illegal and she must be given a bond hearing.

Does anyone else want to take a turn deleting some bus stops?
Officially back on my bs

What's the most non-Chicago looking place in Chicago you've visited (no street view please, let me enjoy the surprise of visiting)? For me it's got to be this section of Beverly that leads into a trail out to 87th Street.

After the law went into effect, we find that it produced a major boost in spending on streets/highway-related investment, adjusted for inflation.

But spending on non-streets/highway investment, like rail transit, flatlined. States & cities *reduced* spending on rail transit after the law passed.

All but one public comment are in favor of converting vehicle lanes into bus only lanes but are against including protected bike lanes on Grand. The Mayor's plan is a road diet to Grand avenue from four to two lanes and includes curb protected bike lanes
Many public comments today. First, Roger Romanelli of Fulton Market, previously killed the Ashland BRT project.

Praises Grand bus route, asking for BRT on Grand from Ashland to Wells to grow development. Says CTA board is obstructing CDOT progress on it.

Following along on with the CTA board meeting this morning. Doing a TL;DR version.

- Votes to make RAP (rideshare access) and TAP (transportation alternatives) permanent
- Regional day pass is permanent
- Still taking the $72M transfer from Pace/Metra
- Budget approved (blue column)

🚨🚨 Just in: Katie Wilson has expanded her lead in the Seattle mayor race. She is now leading by 1,346 votes.

If you want to see what I'm referencing, CDOT only believes it has ~870 active driveway permits which anyone can conclude is far short of how many permits there should be. 1drv.ms/x/c/f50285e9...

Don't get mad but we should redo the bus numbers. The way they did the 70, 72, 73, 74, 76, 77, 78, 80, 81, and 84 is so intuitive (tells you how far north you are).

I love a come from behind story involving mail in ballots (big if true)
SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

That Cortez-Masto interview was one of the most disillusioned interviews I've had to listen to recently. I don't understand why your reasoning for capitulating is to see if republicans support healthcare. We all ready knew that or the government would be open!
