People in the US also annoying use “mental health” to mean bad mental health. Have to correct my students all the time.

What air quality meter did you buy? Had one but like a lot of IoT it was ultimately junk. Kept disconnecting from WiFi etc.

They’re taking a break and maybe it’s for the better. Let social theory cool down from the over heated French contribution of the 1960s to 2007 period.

Yes! We’re over here pumping oil with a growing 20+ year online program while every traditional program suffers BUT it is very clear that it’s fundamentally broken bc of AI. Let’s share ideas

Recently while visiting Greece I picked up a cheap copy of Epictetus Manual on the Art of Living and as I read I kept thinking this guy is suffering from major depression.

I’ve been playing Civ since 1 but this is the first time I didn’t insta buy bc I couldn’t tell if it was ever “done”. I can’t decide to buy or wait indefinitely, from all that I read and watched. Is it remotely worth it yet?

I’ve been following you for like 15 years across various socials and damn your best post yet. Your statement is sadly so f’n true. You really see if you step out for a while and come back.

Fair perhaps there is lust and desire for a charismatic figure in contemporary right and left. But post-communism and the anarchist turn 30 years ago I think there is much more ideological hostility on the left + factionalism. Bernie a rare exception.

This and the fact that the left is skeptical if not repellant to “charismatic entrepreneurialism” is one of the reasons the right (and Trumpism) have an advantage. Factionalism on the left will make it difficult to unite under any one charismatic figure. Liberals may be no different.

people wanted a luxury belief presidency that would give them the means to live out the indulgences they craved while making them richer. They got a bunch of meth tweakers ripping everything out of the walls
