feel like this'll exaggerate the divide between the people that want Gran Turismo to be Gran Turismo and the people that want it to be GT3s at Spa Simulator #17, as if that wasn't enough of an issue already

honestly I tend to prefer the road cars in Forza and Gran Turismo, but I do really like it when they add historic race cars

the sheer number of cars in recent Forza games that I never thought I'd see in a modern game is pretty wild, whereas GT hits that spot way less frequently imo

my ideal Forza Motorsport would be one that leans more heavily into celebrating automotive and motorsport history (much like GT), rather than trying to be an esports game like FM23 did

because for as much as I love GT too, I do think Forza more consistently picks out interesting cars to include

definitely agree on the difference in appreciation for the cars, even minor things like the little biographies for each one so you can learn a bit about them if you want to

GT7's car models are stunning, but honestly I'm quite content with Forza's model quality if it means more car variety

I crossed the divide so to speak from GT to Forza, GT4 was my go-to game as a kid (and is still probably my all-time favourite game)

I played GT5 and GT6, then got a 360 and from that point on I've stuck with Forza (although I got a PS4 a year or two ago to play GT7)

good luck with them!

I could go on here but this is already too long, tl;dr FM23 should have had the coolest car list the genre has ever seen and the fact it doesn't is genuinely infuriating to me

and given the failure of the game, and all the cuts at Turn 10, we might never even get another entry in the series 🫠
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
it's all fine and well having a good selection of modern GT3s, but loads of games have those. if I'm playing Forza I want to drive the stuff no other game offers me, and FM23 is missing most of those in that 519-strong list of missing cars
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
FM4 was brilliant because you could drive a GT1 car in one race, then switch over to Smart Fortwos for the next one and have an even better race

one of the big problems with FM23 is it has none of that charm. it is by a margin the most soulless feeling Forza game
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
some people would argue a portion of these cars don't 'belong' in Forza Motorsport. all the SUVs, trucks, the real left-field stuff like the BMW Isetta or the Citroen 2CV

but (imo) that completely misses the point of Forza Motorsport. part of the charm of this series is in racing silly stuff!
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
the only game I know of with a larger car list is Gran Turismo 6, and even that has an asterisk with the comical level of padding in that car list (no Kaz, you can't count the NA MX-5 20 times and expect to be taken seriously)
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
these 3 collages show every car from the Xbox One and Series X era Forza games (FM5-7, FH2-5) that isn't in FM23

that's *519 in total*

had they been included, FM23 could have had a car list of nearly 1200; which would have incredible, and may well have sold the game on its own for some people
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
however, there are a whole bunch of cars from other recent Forza games that could have been included in FM23 that - for whatever reason - weren't. these are all modelled to the expected standard and ready to go

how many exactly? well that brings us to the images in the first post
November 10, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Forza Motorsport (2023) had the chance to feature literally the single greatest car list in racing game history, but Turn 10 (or Microsoft, or whoever) decided to simply not bother

and this decision absolutely baffles me

with all the DLC and dripfeed included, FM23 features about 680 cars
