Know what you stand for. Don’t let ANY politician off the hook if they fail to meet your standard. None of them are perfect, but when you look at who they really ARE by what they DO and not what they SAY it saves a lot of heartache.

Romeo and Juliet laws (horrible name given the reality of the actual ages in the play) are on the books in many states to prevent teens from rape charges for this reason. This however, is definitely not that.

The only path to a real opposition party is through a cleansing primary season. We have spent a year trying to convince the Democratic Party to unify and fight back — but at some point, you’ve got to either change your leaders’ minds or change your leaders. And the time for changing minds is over.

The U.S. is already producing more oil than any nation in history, and oil companies are sitting on thousands of unused leases in our public waters. this plan is nothing more than another giveaway to Big Oil—at the expense of taxpayers, coastal economies, and our climate. We won’t stand for it.

Many years ago (early MAGA days) had a fun Thanksgiving when my firefighter uncle wanted to put me on blast for not hating democratic socialism. Just about had an aneurism when I pointed out that his entire career would not be possible in a purely capitalist government.

But more dangerous for them to stay on the sidelines any longer. It’s no longer a battle of reasonable opposing ideologies, it’s democracy or bust. At this point I’m not just worried about independents and the apolitical, some of these purity democrats have me nervous too.

In addition to taxing unrealized gains used as loan collateral, I wonder if we could tax the corporations that are paying out stock options in lieu of salary on the value of the options at the time of transfer. Or is that done?
