Where do I get a copy of this book that comes with the birds attached? I think I could even ID sparrows with this help.
Seems right.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, approximately one-third of the nation’s residents don’t have driver’s licenses. So why is our transportation so car-centric?

Way Fewer Young People Are Learning How to Drive
Only 25% of 16 year olds are getting driver’s licenses.

I hate the demonization of “distracted walking.” For crying out loud, being distracted is pretty much the whole point of walking.
There is this thing I call The Imposition of Seriousness by the Cars. Because we've made everything car-centric, being outside has to be 100% serious business. Walk in straight lines! Keep up the pace! Check if the sign says you can go! NEVER get distracted! Make way for anything bigger or faster!
Rather than pausing to linger, American pedestrians are racing through streets – and doing so alone.

A new study from Ed Glaeser, Carlo Ratti, et al. raises troubling questions about the decline of streetlife.

we don’t need climate action just for future generations, we need it now.

Am I the only one bugged by the term “final draft?” If it’s final, it’s not a draft anymore. And if it’s a draft doesn’t that mean it’s still editable and not final?

This year I commit to remain relentlessly positive, focused on the things I can do, the difference I can make, and the great positive work I see others around me doing.

This is infuriating. They are reinforcing bad, dangerous behavior.
Waymo (aka Google) admits that it trains its robotaxis to break the law. When WaPo reporter finds robotaxis fail to stop for pedestrians in marked crosswalk 70% of the time, Waymo says it follows "social norms" rather than laws.

Column | On roads teeming with robotaxis, crossing the street can be harrowing
Our tech columnist captured multiple video of Waymo self-driving cars failing to stop for him at a crosswalk. How does an AI learn how to break the law?

It’s not just “bloated,” it’s gone from pragmatic to 100% poser wannabe. Then somehow that morphs into a 12 year-old’s phantasy cyber truck. Consumer folly alert.
Ford presents the F-150 as an enduring American icon, but its bloated design is a recent phenomenon.

In the 1970s, the bed comprised 2/3 of a F-150's length. Now it's just 1/3.

Paris | Before, the banks of the Seine were motorways, with daily traffic jams and pollution.
Today are parks for people and play areas for everyone.
That's what changing a city is all about, even if it's been difficult.
