WTAF!? In what way to DuckDuckGo and Sainsbury's think this is in any way acceptable?

I suggest Aldi creates a big fuss about this rank dishonesty!

With apologies for the "Ian is bored on a train" tweet, why does every shirt I own have a button for even narrower wrists? I'm already pretty slim for my height. Who's my height but with notably skinnier wrists? The Grim Reaper is the only one that comes to mind

Imagine going in a shop and seeing a sandwich labeled "£1.99 or £4.50 depending what time it is. You'll be punished as a thief if you pay the wrong amount but we won't tell you what time the prices change". That's the UK rail system that is
"Traveling without a ticket is THEFT!" wails a poster on this EMR train. Whereas operating a deliberately obscure and overcomplicated ticket system that encourages people to overpay is...fine?

fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you

3yr old, with great hope in his voice: "We go to Copenhagen this month?"

And so begins month 5 of his obsession with returning to the, admittedly very fine, city.

No son. We don't have a trip to Copenhagen planned.

There can be lots of gatekeeping in the cycling community so just remember that when it comes to biking there are only two rules: Wear what you want. Ride what you want.

I should get one of those high speed camera YouTube channels to film my toddler and see if there is a moment they can catch of him not moving in some way*

When @nicolalkelly.bsky.social noticed that the QI titles rolled quick I recalled the data bursts after kids TV programmes. You recorded them on VHS then played a frame at a time with the pause button. I can't immediately find a mention of it in a web search. Now I'm being accused of making it up!

Studies repeatedly find that retail business operators overestimate the % of their customers who travel by car.

In Berlin, retailers estimated that 22% of their customers drove. In fact it was only 7%.

In Bristol, retailers thought 41% of their customers came by car, when it was actually 22%.
The theory is that customers who arrive by car often make that known to restaurant owners, managers, and staff. "Traffic was terrible" or "Ugh, it's so hard to find parking." Meanwhile, people who walk, bike or take transit don't say anything. That skews perceptions about how their patrons travel.
Do restaurant owners in Midtown and Lower Manhattan really think their customers arrive in private cars?

For too long, the importance of car parking spaces being available to shops has been overstated.

But in fact, a new report out today shows that pedestrians spend more money than people arriving by car, and pedestrianised town centres have higher sales.
