Talk with me about thrift & vintage; cozy forests; learning useful skills (home repair, food preservation, "make do & mend", etc); and how we maintain love, justice, wonder, & beauty in this crazy world.
Inherited a "face value" stamp collection and rhe Christmas cards are putting them to use this year.

Was at my childhood friend's parents house yesterday and am happy to report the bathroom is still amazing.

Walking into a hardware store and quickly and confidentiality locating the doo-dad I need to make our lives better (restore some power) gives me such confidence. I am woman. Hear me roar.

Christmas decorations are just gonna forever have a Mom memorial aspect to them.

Some of her angels set up here.

We both loved old fashioned Christmas decor.

If I wasn't already boycotting them this would make me avoid the store.

I have been known to pass over my shopping basket/cart to the 4th employee who asked if I needed help and walk out of other stores.

"Eglon lived in the cool chambers of his palace with plenty to eat, while his subjects lived in hunger on the barren hills of the countryside."

Trump out here doing literal Biblical evil king deeds, building gilded places to feast while people go hungry.

I keep very few books these days but those of these continue to make the cut. I contain multitudes.

Making chicken and (biscuit) dumplings for dinner.

Is this a recession indicator? Lol

$30 off $30. Can't use on clearance/ doorbusters, but can combine with other sales.

But also the $140 jump to get the next discount seems like a LOT.

My brain says they are sorting their wealthy customers into a list to market to. (Or their poor customers out)

Made cheesy garlic bread from scratch to go with dinner and would like my domestic achievement badge.

(Main course was also from scratch - sausage kale soup)

Went to the fair. 💜💛

Dad and brother and niece and sister in law came too. Missed mom.

I got VERY VERY animated by this. Final jeopardy for the former church kids.

My 3rd or 4th birthday party. Several toddlers and their parents gathered in a single wide trailer. Eat in kitchen transformed into a party room. 💜

And there's the old stove and the crochet toaster cover and the dark wood cabinets accented with yellow, Mom's favorite. The bread box Dad still has.

I spent 11 cents on this 1980s southern Baptist book as a method of gaslighting resistance.

No my 2025 beliefs don't align with their 1980 theology. But neither do theirs. They changed, too.

Christmas presents when I was 16. Take a look at that magazine.

I remember being excited about it. But what in the world.

I have several incomplete jokes and sharing with you to find the gem.

We had sausage, a half jar of marinera, a little bit of cream, a carton of baby bella mushrooms that needed to be used, and a box of noodles. it became one of the most delicious dinners ever.

Used this as the guide, modified with what we had on hand: www.smells-like-home.com/2015/02/one-...

A poem about a good old fashioned meetings, robot free. (Also happy to report the ghosts I crafted last year did not break in their storage box.)

My grandmother's childhood doll she bought for 5 or 10 cents. She was born in 1924, so this is likely about 90 years old.

I think the hair style fits the 20s or 30s?

It's all porcelain but the dress and I'm always amazed at what care a child gave it.

I'm working on a full book mixed media poetry project. Started months ago. Will be spending some time working on this today. Dobson's influence and work has done so much damage.

Made a honey oat wheat bread for sandwiches this week and it's really quite good.

We have bought a couple loaves of bread this year for schedule reasons, but mostly our bread has been homemade (bread machine) since November and it's lovely. Happy to have this "chore" added to my Sundays.

Mom died two and a half months ago. Sifting through the memories is just starting.

I made chicken and dumplings for dinner tonight.
