This is right.

There are real pastoral dynamics at play. But it cannot be that once a party chooses to take a position on a given question, the church can therefore no longer articulate the gospel’s position on that same question. Parties cannot determine how much of the gospel is right to preach.

It’s cruel that AAR is in San Diego the year I’m on mat leave. Missing pals and conversation is enough without the contrast between dark slushy Scotland and Southern California in November. And the absence of good tacos. 🙃

Hi friends, as we are new to this platform, we need to rebuild our network from the other place. Could y'all help us out a bit? A little bit of crowd sourcing can go a long way! Do share our profile with those in your networks who you think might be interested the Divine work we do here in Aberdeen!

Seems like it’s time to get back on here. For those who don’t know me irl, I’m a Scottish theologian interested in Barth, feminist and queer theology, political theology, sin, nations, Reformed stuff. Also tennis, literature, politics. Also mum to a 5 week old baby girl. Having serious AAR fomo. Hi.

Look I know we all know this but it really is stark how much more difficult using the NHS is now than it was when I left for my PhD. And I will tell you what I think the answer isn’t: more privatisation.

I am on the train from Amsterdam to Münster to talk about sin. And I’m feeling sad about the many sins of little Britain.

One time I was pulling a pint for one of the Bay City Rollers and my internal song accidentally became a very audible rendition of Shang-a-Lang. Because I’m a disaster. He did a good job pretending it didn’t happen.
Twitter is doing “best celebrity interactions” discourse so we should do WORST ones

not necessarily like that they were a jerk, just that the interaction itself was a fail on some level

like one time Robert Sean Leonard walked past me and I short-circuited so badly I spilled guacamole on myself

I was thinking at church yesterday that a lot about me can be summed up by the fact that the two things absolutely guaranteed to make me cry every time are baby baptisms and Andy Murray crying.

I did not know Sonia especially well, but I am grateful to have witnessed someone so faithfully, honestly, and boldly meeting her death. Rest in peace and rise in glory.
Sonia radiated a fierce and capacious commitment to those who are in suffering, grief, and pain, and an even fiercer and more capacious joy and love that could hold all those experiences. May God’s ever greater love and life envelop her now in joy eternal. We will sorely miss her.
