Boxcraft! Continuing in the push on workshop organization, I repurposed 1.5 large Amazon boxes to make a storage tray that fits under my shelving and can store flat material sheets. Got the cardboard and marker aesthetic going on. It’s practical tho!

On impulse, I made dessert tonight. Based on time and what I had on hand (key: a handful of apples that needed to be used), I made an apple tart with almond streusel top. My first time making a short crust tart from scratch, actually! A bit rough and ragged but entirely yummy. :9 #ChefRat

In cleaning and organizing the workshop I found this—a part of something but I’ve got no memory of it. Is this a left-handed sprogue? A reciprocating dingle arm? An oblong manxome coil suspension rig? A trunnion gauge? Help me out! Wrong answers only please.

I made chicken ballotine — thighs rolled around stuffing with bread, collard greens, herbs, and garlic. First time doing this preparation and it came out reasonably well I think! Also: homemade dinner rolls. :) #ChefRat

For dessert, little apple tartlets and candied orange peel and hard caramel. It’s apple season so time to take advantage of that in cooking! #ChefRat

Restarted my Costco membership -> “wow, that’s a great price on salmon!” -> “I know what we’re doing for dinner today!” A dangerous cycle :) paprika and ground seaweed seasoning, side salad w vinaigrette, and sautéed Brussels sprouts. #ChefRat
