What to do then?

How I've tackled this in the past was by doing my best:
+to explain the "why not"
+to highlight the potential outcomes should we move forward
+to minimize the risks if we decide to continue

+ Understanding the customer,
+ The market condition
+ The competition, etc.

This requires:
+ Interviews
+ Being on the field events/tradeshows
+ Participating in sales meetings and more"

We always talk about the Voice of Customer in Product Marketing.

And yes.

Surveys and formal interviews and reviews and CRM data are great.

What's even greater is having time to discuss it all on a deeper level.

And when they're up for it, have fun together and record their feedback on camera.
