So it seems the ACLU has shut down its mobile justice app - which among other things uploaded real time video to an off site server, so people could document police action even if their phones were seized.

Anyone know of a current alternative?

People who have learned foreign languages - what did you use app or program wise? I want to avoid Duolingo if possible due to their labor practices - iirc they fired all their translators to replace them with AI - so what would you recommend?

Gotta love having everything that you value proven again to be fucking irrelevant.

On Saturday Trump shipped 250 people without charge or trial to indefinite detention in a foreign country in naked defiance of court orders.

He can now ship anyone - citizen or otherwise - to jail consequence free

Mary had a little lamb
She doesn't anymore
For what she thought was H20
Was H2SO4.

A shipment of purring floof has apparently arrived.

Finally had a jury duty assignment where I went into the box and found facts for a trial!

It was great! More please! Sadly I'm ineligible for the next 3 years, and every other time I've been summoned has ended in disappointment, but this time did not!

Happy thought of the day: I'm thankful that the tree which fell in the windstorm went away from the house and didn't go anywhere near the solar panels.

A thing I read has stuck with me:

"Conservatives are used to suffering. They expect it. So they are fine having one meal taken away as long as you lose two."

Conservativism is fundamentally hierarchical. Hierarchy can be established either by raising yourself up or by pushing someone else down.

This this a thousand times this. It drives me insane. You should not prefer the suffering and death of your neighbors to a minor personal inconvenience, and you definitely aren't entitled to use government power to impose that to prevent such personal inconvenience.

The moment we say it's ok to violate the law to shut down one agency – we say it's ok to violate the law to shut down anything.

They're trying to silence the media because they don't want you to know what they're doing.
Trump megadonor Steve Wynn has filed a petition asking the Supreme Court to overturn the landmark 1964 decision in New York Times v. Sullivan, which protects the media's ability to aggressively cover public officials. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...

I'm shocked. Shocked I say. Who could imagine such a totally foreseeable result?

I have no words for the rage I feel right now. A literal Nazi is leading a coup of the federal service intended to destroy our government and eliminate our international diplomacy.

He controls the federal government's ability to pay, and the USAID office. Biggest data breach ever + also espionage.

This is a good time for people to learn about Incogni, which is a paid service which scrubs your personal information from data brokers. incogni.com/dashboard

This could become very useful in the next 4 years because the private sector is happy to provide personal information to the government.

Bots to control or change public opinion is here to stay, I guess people leaving FB and X mean larger target audiences here. Sigh.
Bluesky has been flooded with automated reply bots - they'll offer a sort of confrontational opinion as a reply. They're pretty convincing and we all need to train ourselves to not reflexively reply to all responses until we check

Dead giveaway is new acct, few followers + original posts
