Seems very obviously a panic buy, but a necessary one. I wasn't as high as most watching him in the U21's as he gives me big Zirkzee vibes. But I think if you have a coach as good as Howe, there's no reason a platform can't be made for him to succeed.

where people have just looked at the xG for Liv/City and concluded that City were still probably better. And as a neutral who watched that, it's simply not the case. L'pool were probably as good as they were the season before, but City were pretty off it.

Well yeah, but then it's only as much of a streak as City had the previous two years (and the number of late winners they got in Nov/Dec in the 100 point season are similar strokes of luck). I just think there's a bit of revisionism developing around the 19/20 season... (1/2)

But I think that's an oversimplification based on a singular stat. City may have underperformed their xG, but also weirdly brittle. Liverpool were simply an amazing unit that matched ridiculous mentality with outrageous quality. There are times where you just wondered how you could ever beat them.

I'm not sure you could really put the 2020 league title down to luck. They were far and away the best team in the league and likely would have smashed the points record if not for COVID. I think even if City had matched the previous year's performance, Liverpool still beat them.

As I say, they've been odd teams, but his performance spikes and lows are just so big that it goes a bit beyond Tottenham and Juve having odd managers and their own struggles.

Has anyone managed to uncover just why he seems to be so incredibly inconsistent? I get that Juve and Tottenham are odd teams, but he blows so hot and cold (and sometimes for such extended periods), it's just bizarre.

After the game yesterday I logged in and literally couldn't see any posts about the game because it was all buried by Real fans complaining about the Valencia game and culture war stuff. I'm literally getting no access to accs I actually follow.

While it's fun to laugh at how this has all gone tits up for Man Utd, it's all just pretty frustrating that this has been a complete waste of everyone's time and money. Literally everybody has come out worse off and we got a pittance of a compensation for it all.
