It is not only a duty to tell the truth, it can be an act of righteous rebellion.
Really wish I had gotten a better shot of this but holding a phone that says “who else was just ‘following orders’?” up to a riot cop is hard as hell

Most people need connection with a caring and patient person to help them have the courage to face the truth of what happened and how it hurt them. A companion in tragedy or difficulty always helps us have courage.

There is zero shame in not understanding what we were experiencing wasn't normal, or that we needed specific support, until late in life. We didn't know what we didn't know-- & there were often people in our life actively trying to gaslight us & normalize what we were enduring.
