Oh, joy: a new billboard going up in SLC’s Central City local historic district.

Universal Truth: No one will ever wash their hands as thoroughly as a 4-year-old stalling bedtime after the 3rd “I need to go potty!” of the evening.

One of the most fascinating places to ever exist in SLC—Ralphael Plescia’s Christian School—is gone.

I know it was inevitable after his death in 2022, but I’m still really sad about it.

I hope someone got most everything out, and at least we have photos.

The really frustrating thing is that there’s still SOME (naturally occurring) fluoride in much of our water, but it varies by source and we can no longer make the amount of consistent countywide.

So this bill increases uncertainty—and prevents us (esp. poor kids) from having stronger teeth.

Anybody know the metrics used by #SLC to determine which neighborhoods are eligible for the "Love Your Block" mini grants?

Was it police calls? Average income level? Tenancy? Dominant zoning density?

What happened two weeks later?! 🙄

Some good things here in Trolley Square's plans for redeveloping its big, south parking lot into "Trolley Village Condominiums."

And some concerning things (such as removing the Sego/Ely midblock connection between 600 and 700 East) that #SLC should deny.

Apologies for poor image quality... (1/2)

From fluoride bans to staff cuts… it’s been a hard week in public health.
“It’s going to be difficult. We are going to cover those areas as best we can,” SLC Health Department spokesperson Nicholas Rupp said.

“... Losing epidemiologists means the remaining epidemiologists will have more diseases to track, right? It’s the same amount of work spread over fewer people.”

Protect yourself and your loved ones from measles! This virus spreads very easily, even before symptoms appear. Make sure you're protected with the MMR vaccine, which is over 97% effective in preventing measles.

This Valentine’s Day, protect your health by getting tested and using protection. Many STIs have no symptoms, but regular testing can help you stay ahead and keep the love hot—not your symptoms.

In retrospect, the U.S. may have peaked during the Clinton years... after the Cold and Gulf Wars and before 9/11 and the War on Terror.
There were definite bright spots during the Obama years (e.g., ACA, marriage equailty), but it's increasingly looking like it's all downhill from the late '90s.

The real estate MLS should have a comment feature so we can all let sellers know they have hideous taste and completely destroyed the character of that home.

Today is the 11th anniversary of my marriage... along with about a hundred other surprised same-sex couples.

Here's a really long thread about how that happened. It's worth the read and it's 100% true. It also seems like a good story for Bluesky.
