Cash-grabs. Debt. Infrastructure neglect. Exorbitant bills. Record pollution.
This is the devastation that privatised water has left in its wake.
82% of us support public ownership of water. Yet, Steve Reed, in his plan for reform, has already ruled it out.
The government must listen to the public.🧵

You know what?

The EU & UK should put tariffs on US goods (from red states) in solidarity with Canada and Mexico.

Rather than watching others get bullied and waiting our turn - we should unify against this bullying until the bully drops that behaviour.

That’s what water bosses could do to us.

We can stop this, but we've got to act fast.

Good. Draw a line. And then advance from there.

- Overhaul Ofsted. Make it do its job or replace it

- Rebalance the BBC and replace the most obvious Tory political figures/editorial appointments

- Start strengthening public institutions that can help cut through disinformation

Fight damn it.

Musk’s latest intervention is objectively hilarious but the problem of a hideous human using his enormous wealth & power to promote lies & liars in the U.K., despite having no links to or other interest in the country, remains acute.

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation

The BBC needs to have a debate about whether Musk's outbursts should keep leading the news.

This isn't about censoring or suppressing his views; it's about whether to amplify them.

Most Brits aren't on X, they don't follow Musk & not every raving from a foreign plutocrat should set the news agenda

Do you know how much CEO pay has skyrocketed since 1978?

100%? 500%?

Try 1,085%

Meanwhile, the $7.25/hr fed. minimum wage hasn't budged in 15 years and the tipped min. wage has been $2.13/hr since 1991.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.
CEO Pay Has Risen 1,085% Since 1978, But for Workers? Just 24% | Common Dreams
CEOs at top US companies saw their pay skyrocket by 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay only increased by 24%
