Mostly radio, travel, technology, food, performing arts, liberal leaning politics.
Another early adopter penalty. Off to the #googlegraveyard for my perfectly functional 1st gen Nest thermostat, bricked because Google don't want to support the backend any more.

New #Tado system fitted today - #matter open standards should dramatically reduce the obsolescence risk. 💪

It's to a transmitter site, annoyingly. I switched it to my own Voda PAYG 4G, and that's doing just fine. The VM backup is on O2 4G, and it's clearly deprioritised and flaky as hell. (See graph).

EE 5G has been exceptional on a number of sites, and it's cheaper than DSL or fibre.

The UK - where medieval churches in the middle of rural Devon have 1Gbps fibre broadband, but an office tower block in central Bristol is stuck with Virgin Media's dreadful coaxial cable or 6Mbps ADSL copper.

🤷‍♂️

So, the British summer has arrived, and we're all starting to sweat a bit.

Don't think I'll be doing that much sitting today, tbh. 2½ hours to doors...

Same vibe, different festival 😁

Whatever Great British Rail ends up being, not requiring 6 tickets to get a fair fare between Bristol and London would be high on my expectations.

We're on $6.41/usgall for petrol off the highways, $7.18 on the highways.

If you have the time to fully charge before you leave the M1/6/56, A55, and you're not wandering deep into North Wales, it'll be doable. 😬. But there's a biiig open space with winding roads and steep hills with nothing in it.

After just over 9 years, the Bristol Small Scale DAB *trial* equipment has come down. That trial paved the way for really innovative and contemporary approaches to digital broadcasting. (The Bristol SSDAB muxes run by @bristoldigitalradio.org and @severnsidedigitalradio.org are still on-air)
