I know, I know, tons of folks grew up in suburbs so have come to believe "that's just what people want." Fish/water etc.

But we really, actually outlawed urban growth in the ~ 1960s thru '80s and mandated suburbanization.

that is not the same as "what people want." It is "all that's on offer."

He also used taxpayer money to take his family on vacation, which seems quaint in retrospect but was absolutely a scandal at the time

Once again thinking about how the great untold story of our age is the nexus of PR professionals and conservative activists and how and why some people are able to consistently get sympathetic stories into the newspaper and others aren't bsky.app/profile/ajba...
I have to see those nasty little child beating natalist weirdos every two months and their big convention had like 200 people total
I think there's a lot of truth to this but it's also really important to observe that right wing protests do not have this problem. Even very small groups of right wing activists get widespread press attention (because the press likes Republicans and wants to help them)

Is Trump America’s Ryan Day? He lost four straight to Michigan (covid, 2020 election) then somehow pulls off a national championship (2024) and now we’re all stuck with an ill-advised contract extension.

Second note: The statute states that only the DD for Libraries and the DD for Museums can serve as Acting Director. So how the fuck is Keith Sonderling all of a sudden the Acting Director? IMLS leadership refused to illegally terminate their workforce & now the T admin is just breaking the law.
