OMG what's happening in Wyndham, Victoria, people would say if they read this graph. Crime out of control! Aaaaaaaargh!

What is happening is that, between 2016 and 2024, the population of the area increased by 50%, and the amount of crime increased by 50%

A Liberal senator was on a plane this morning en route to help her party dump their carbon emissions policy and the cabin literally filled with smoke.
A spokesperson from Air Metaphor was not immediately available for comment.

"Look over there, Sancho Panza, my friend, where there are thirty or more monstrous giants with whom I plan to do battle and take all their lives, and with their spoils we’ll start to get rich. This is righteous warfare, and it’s a great service to God to rid the earth of such a wicked seed.”

Sure it's a blow in the fight against illicit tobacco sales, but it doesn't speak well of NSW government grammar checking processes.

More one-eyed Victoria bashing, though at least in this one, the story eventually (TWELVE paragraphs down) admits that NSW is almost exactly the same.
November 4, 2025 at 7:27 PM
in every quarter since 2020, more people left NSW than left Victoria. But that doesn't fit the narrative... so ignore...
November 3, 2025 at 11:31 PM
If you want to keep running a Victoria-bashing narrative about a 'crime crisis', it's important to omit inconvenient context. For example, that in the last year ten times as many people left NSW despite the mysterious absence of a 'crime crisis'.

The phrase, apparently, is "climate change cannot be stopped". Being seriously proposed as an argument against trying to mitigate it. ffs.

OMG:
He lashed out. Punched, scratched and slapped at the snarling mystery with teeth.

“After a while, it dropped off,” Dempsey said. “I still don’t know what it was, but I reckon it was like a wombat or an oversized rat because I reckon a dog would have finished me. I can tell you, I shit myself.”

Injecting some facts into the 'Victoria is the crime capital of Australia' debate - these are the latest (2023-24) offenders per 100,000 ppl figures from the ABS. Even if they've gone up by 16% in the last year, as reported, they're still the lowest of any state.
