He/him; Chicago-based transportation planner ; vélotafeur; rabid divvy bike angel ; posts in french/english ; I am probably riding my bike to the grocery store; fighting for streets to live in rather than roads to die in ; #bikechi #bikesky
I had a double take after seeing these posts next to each other. I agree with them both, to be sure, but they were striking in juxtaposition lol:

Feeling grateful for transit in the Chicago region this morning.

Heavier vehicles at lower speeds have the same kinetic energy as lighter vehicles traveling at higher speeds. For safer streets, we should first be focusing on the heaviest and most dangerous vehicles on the road- not e-bikes.

See the CMAP Speed Management report for context on the chart.

I enjoyed the event @betterstreetschicago.org put on featuring @nerd4cities.bsky.social, discussing transit and urbanism in Chicago. Chicago is such a great city and I was glad to see the hundreds of people there to recognize and celebrate that.

Photos of congestion as a result of the ongoing TFL strike in London taken by some of my family members. I am very supportive of the labor organizing of TFL employees, but wanted to highlight the crucial role of transit - without public transit, other modes become over-burdened and congested.

A lot more needs to say about the important role of the stroller as a powerhouse of an urban utility vehicle. Given the versatility of cargo bikes and strollers, infants and cities can be made for one another! Clearly, there are even fewer limits to strollers than I previously believed…

I am nowhere close on my divvy numbers:

Zohran’s citibike numbers make me feel like we need to start demanding bike share stats from our politicians in the same way we demand tax returns

The state of Illinois carved out of a piece of discarded Chicago bike lane paving. Is this a new art form?

The chicane bollards found in the Haga neighborhood of Gothenburg were so smart - the pedestrian street was separated from through traffic, but delivery vehicles could still enter - provided they slowly maneuver between the zig zag bollards at 1 mph. Plus - no expensive retractable bollard mechanism
