Got the final boards up and secured. Next step, trim around to finish it off. Definitely needed the 5’ deep since while testing I did hit ceiling and left ball indentation in ceiling drywall (oops). Also, removed old lights and for now left cable for future track lighting.

Got most of the boards hung. It’s not perfect but decent enough. It’s hard to get the right cut with the foam. Need to trim back the top boards since not enough room. All in all, coming along nicely. I also ran my HDMI cable from projector all the way to other side where I’ll have computer.

I spent the morning acquiring the remaining fabric (almost 30 yards). Then I used my lovely wife’s quilting tools to cut it into 33” pieces (x 44”) to support the 24” boards (x 30”). Enough for 30 panels.

Starting to build the panels to protect the side walls and ceiling. I went with 7/16th OSB to back it and cut 30x24” to get 6 panels per 4x8 sheet. I wrapped with 2” foam and cheap broadcloth fabric. Gets the job done for relatively cheap. Foam is most expensive. GoTo Foam Amazon 30x96”.

Turf time! I bought basic putting turf from Home Depot. Ended up getting 2 6’ rolls 13’ deep. That’d ensure it goes past the net similar to the gym mats. I still need to glue down and clean the seams as well as remove the portion for the hitting strip. Starting to look good.

Finally got the gym mats installed. I used a simple utility knife to cut excess off. I used extra boards to square off the platform to ensure proper install. I also went 12” past net so it flows when net goes back. I also raised those boards up so net and balls flow back down w/o getting stuck.

For the flaps I bought stick on Velcro and applied up the 2x4 frames. Eventually I’ll put some padding behind it but for now it makes the install look great.

Once mostly stretched, I measured and screwed in remaining hooks. I ensured just enough tightness on bungee to pull slack out but still allow give for the impact. It came out really good. Have to fiddle with tightness and eye hooks to get proper stretch but otherwise really great product.

With the frame in place I started to think about how putting would work and what type of hitting strip. Putting cups are about 4” deep on average. Hitting strips are about 2-3” deep. This meant I need to build a fake floor to reach 4”. I decided to use 2x4’s with 7/16 OSB to be cheaper.

Here is a picture of the frame and I also hung sound proof heavy blankets to act as a final deterrent behind the net. This will ensure balls don’t ever hit wall.

Can someone explain what Darnold does NOT see here that causes him to look away? He sees man to man at scrimmage. He sets his feet knowing Addy is primary. He sees the great play call and DB picked on the route. He has open vision between linemen. What would cause Darnold to not make that play?!

I hear the Vikings won! SKOL nation! I also hear the TWolves won on a walk off buzzer beater 3. Sweet! Go Minnesota! I was a little preoccupied in the dessert crawling over rocks.
