9) Police Story (1985) - What happens when a team of crack stuntman want to make a film? They do a bunch of cool shit and figure out the rest later. The action scenes in this are incredible and Jackie's physical comedy excels here. Terrific fun and I'll watch the second one soon.

8) Companion (2025) - A whole lot of fun! I'm disappointed I missed this in theaters. Great performances by Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid. I went into this blind, made an educated guess and to the premise, and still was very engaged by the execution. Great time, watch with no knowledge if possible.

7) Le Samouraï (1967) - Mood, music, and melancholy are the first things that come to mind. Jef Costello (Alain Delon) is the most stylish hit man on the planet and he wants you to know that. His emptiness and solitude eek into all of the setting and atmosphere, and I was intoxicated.

Will rewatch.

6) Casino Royale (2006) - What a great spy thriller. I love the pacing of this film so much; from fights to poker to ball torture, this movie really does have it all. Daniel Craig's Bond goes through a wider gamut of emotion than most (if any) other and I love him all the more for it.

Crying Blood

5) Warfare (2025) - I've seen a lot of commentary questioning if this movie is for/against the Iraq War. Speaking for myself, I found it to demonstrate how utterly pointless and destructive the war was, and I was asking the same question as one the women being held in the house:

Why?

4) Sinners (2025) - As I've sat with this movie, it's already becoming one of my favorites of the decade. The juke-joint music sequence, the excellent metaphorical elements, and the stellar performances from the whole cast make this film special.

Extra shout-out for the music and cinematography.

3) Sherlock Jr (1924) - Does Jackie Chan make Police Story if this movie doesn't exist? Some of the greatest physical comedy and stunt-work put to film. Keaton was a master of his craft.

2) Some Like it Hot (1959) - So god damn funny, even to this day. Marilyn's wardrobe in this movie is incredible. As a saxophone player I relate so hard to this movie: we're always causing trouble.

Perfect Ending.

A thread of films I've watched over the last two weeks, because why not:

1) Charade (1963) - Fun from beginning to end. Terrific performances from the leads, great sense of pace, dialogue rolls right off the tongue. Beautiful colors.

Sinners (2025):

What a fucking maelstrom of a picture. Cannot recommend highly enough

Pikmin 4:

Finally a game that makes me contemplate what a future alien civilization and their onion minions will think of my house as they loot it for resources. My favorite one so far.

Buy this game. Don't look too deeply into it before hand. One of the most affecting stories in a while. Great game.

Metaphor: ReFantazio:

I will confess I have not finished this one yet, but it has intrigued me at every stage. The world-building, music, gameplay, story, and characters all work for me. Atlus had a wonderful 2024 all around and I can't wait to finish this one.
