Changing my name for now as I’m applying for jobs so need to keep a low online profile.
How common is it in non-English speaking languages to have a surname that’s also a word? Eg, Butcher, Baker, King, Strong. Then there are potentially embarrassing surnames that I assume the word was named after such ‘Pratt’ or ‘Crook’ although I just realised latter is a derivative of crooked.

Interesting how so many prominent Leave campaigners have turned out to be racists. Carswell, Hannan (comments at the weekend about the train attack) and now Cummings. Same three questions.

Latest example of things that don’t matter for years or even decades and then suddenly they do.
For as many years as anyone been counting two or more inmates been mistakenly released from British prisons most weeks. Record does not make it acceptable. System needs to be fixed. It does leave me asking why BBC now gripped by end-of-civilisation hysteria heard on Radio 4 Today programme.

This is what people calling for the police to release information soon after an incident need to be to bear in mind. In a fast moving and highly uncertain situation, it’s not unusual for things not to be what they first appeared to be.
Police have announced that a 32-year-old man who was arrested is now being treated as the only suspect for the train stabbing and the 35-year-old has been released with no further action
They say he was "reported in good faith" by witnesses but enquiries confirmed that he was not involved

Legal question. If a letting agent didn’t tell a client about the need to obtain a landlord’s licence and a loss was suffered (conviction, fines, rent repayment), might that constitute professional negligence?
