Emerson Nwaneri was involved with the Arsenal U18 squad against Dover’s first-team today. The midfielder, who is the younger brother of first-team star Ethan, featured as a substitute. Mainly a midfielder, Emerson Nwaneri is also capable of playing at right-back if required. The younger Nwaneri is now part of Arsenal’s U16 squad and will be looking to secure a scholarship contract ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. He was previously called up by England at U15 level. Arsenal U18s suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Dover Athletic’s first-team in a pre-season friendly today. The game saw Arsenal coach Adam Birchall return to the club for whom he scored with regularity between 2009 and 2011. Arsenal named a strong side which included many players who have been involved with the U21s in the early stages of pre-season. Khari Ranson and Louis Zecevic John, who recently signed professional contracts, both started, while schoolboy Angelinou Pedro was called upon at centre-back. **Ranson** **King-Onyekachukwu-Pedro-Ogunnaike** **Murisa** **Hashi-Marciniak** **O’Neill-Zecevic John-Bailey Joseph** The Dover team included former Gunner Alfie Matthews, who was part of the same scholarship intake as Bukayo Saka in 2018. Zecevic John, who can play as a striker or a winger, has featured for Arsenal U21s in pre-season. The Serbia youth international has made 28 appearances for Arsenal at U18 level and has scored ten goals, while he has provided ten assists. He has also featured in the UEFA Youth League. Goalkeeper Ranson joined Arsenal in 2017 and has already made six competitive appearances at U21 level as well as featuring for the U19s and the U18s. An England U18 international who is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, Ranson was the third-choice goalkeeper for the Arsenal first-team against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup last season. Theo Julienne and Ceadach O’Neill had already signed professional contracts from this group of scholars. The longest running transfer saga of this summer is Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United. Why are Man U negotiating? if they wanted him that much they would pay the asking price. Meanwhile, Liverpool bid £120m for Aleksander Isak. This was swiftly rejected. Why don’t they go in with a serious offer like £200m and just pay Newcastle’s asking price. At the same time, they have also had a bid for Hugo Ekitike rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt. Two strikers and twice they failed to pay the asking price. What are they playing at? Finally, Tottenham triggered Morgan Gibbs-White release clause, but he remains a Nottingham Forest player. What are they playing at over in Middlesex? If they want the player, they should make a serious offer vastly above the minimum release clause. It’s Arsenal’s Luis Suarez £40m+£1 all over again. Now imagine Arsenal were doing this business. Offers rejected for Mbeumo, Isak and Ekitike. Failing to secure Gibbs-White despite that release clause. We would be getting mercifully mocked by Sky Sports, TalkSport and fans of Man U, Liverpool and Spurs. In this world, it is only The Arsenal that are not allowed to negotiate. Not allowed to go in at lower than the asking price. Not allowed to try and get a deal that might be beneficial. So why are others not held to the same standard? Why are they allowed to negotiate like it is normal in football? Is it just that negativity around The Arsenal sells, and that is then the narrative pushed. If you are a fan of an opposing club and got this far. Please realise this is satirical. Do not jump up and down in our comments about how negotiating is part of football. I get that. Man U, Liverpool and Tottenham have a right to negotiate. and Forest are in the wrong around Gibbs-White, just like Liverpool were over Suarez. Arsenal also have a right to negotiate. Arsenal have agreed a deal for Salford striker Will Wright, as reported by MailOnline. Wright had been the subject of interest from Liverpool but Arsenal have pressed ahead with a £200,000 move and will now discuss personal terms with the player. Last season Wright made four senior appearances for Salford despite being a first year scholar. That included a substitute appearance against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup. If he signs for Arsenal then Wright, 17, will be eligible to feature for the U18s but it is anticipated that he would mainly feature for the U21s and could also have some first-team involvement. Arsenal are certainly in need of a new striker at youth level especially if Andre Harriman-Annous will be training with the first-team regularly this season.
