Please note that there won't be a service of Choral Evensong this evening at 6.15pm to give the choir additional rehearsal time, and due to other commitments there won't be Evening Prayer at 5.00pm. The Cathedral will be closed this afternoon due to music exams.

Fine wine and good music this evening with a musical wine tasting courtesy of St Woolos Sinfonia and Tom Innes from Fingal Rock in Monmouth. Tom’s shop was flooded so we are particularly grateful to him being able to be here this evening. 🍷

In the three days before the Archbishop's Enthronement on Saturday, we focus on three items which will feature in the service.

First, the Monmouth Archbishop's Bible. This has been used by each of the previous Bishops of Monmouth when making their declaration and oath, and has been signed by them.

The dean has written a Novena for use throughout the Church in Wales in preparation for Archbishop Cherry's enthronement in the Cathedral on 8th November. A novena is nine days of prayer before a special moment or celebration. Taking themes from the Archbishop's Governing Body address in September,

This evening at 6.15pm we look forward to welcoming Welsh speakers from around the diocese for Choral Evensong in the Welsh language. This is part of the regular Welsh services provided around the diocese. Everyone is welcome.

Prayers this morning in the Cathedral on the second anniversary of the 7th October attacks on Israel by Hamas. Also for the response which has led to so much devastation in Gaza. We prayed for peace, for those frightened, especially our Jewish friends and neighbours.

This Sunday is our Harvest Festival. We collect food for different projects each week of the year, but at Harvest we give thanks for it all, for the fruits of the earth that enable us to do this, for the generosity which springs from thanksgiving.
