Removing all possibility of Ben triggering the base defenses and destroying Black Squadron was a logical decision. Imposing his authority on him was also important for squad cohesion.

On the final day of May, Ben rises especially early and frets over his clothing for nearly three-quarters of an hour, driving poor Mitaka to distraction. “Is the black velvet vest too formal to wear during the day, do you think?” “I could not say, sir,” Mitaka replies wearily. Which means yes. “Perhaps the blue silk, then? Ought I not to wear all black?” Rey had teased him about the limited hues of his wardrobe, once upon a time. Would she recognize that a deviation from his normal attire might mark a special occasion? “I rather think Miss Kenobi will be more interested in your person than your waistcoat,” is Mitaka’s reply. His man is, Ben admits, most likely correct on that score; it is more that he wishes to look his best for Rey’s arrival.

Two weeks ago, a treasonous faction led by Duke Palpatine and Lord Snoke attacked the royal palace in Theed, capital of Naboo. The traitors sought to murder Queen Ryoo Naberrie and install Benjamin Solo, the queen’s cousin, as the new monarch. Those closest to the queen bravely rose up against this evil. Palpatine and Snoke both perished in the failed coup and their bodies were burned on Traitor’s Hill. Now the remaining conspirators face a public execution, marking the end of this period of civil war….
