Anecdotal, but I'm as northeast megalopolis as they come and I say "habagoowuh" multiple times a day.

It's particularly funny because No Time To Die, the one they're trying to follow up on, was itself mostly enjoyable as a goofy Metal Gear-style over-the-top spy melodrama.

I continue to believe in this thesis, which I find much more plausible than any of these people actually sitting down to enjoy something unwinnable.com/2025/04/16/n...
No One Has Actually Read Lord of the Rings - Unwinnable
It is really easy to lie about having read a book that many people are familiar with but many fewer accurately remember.

My secret is that I've always passed a bakery recently.

Sometimes clear skies turn into fear skies
And that's when you put your anchor down
Why'd I have to go and sail some freighter like you, like you?
Why'd you have to go and drown somebody like me, like me?

And also while you're going there you're gonna pass the bakery anyway and you'll think to yourself "oh man I could really go for one of those elephant ears" and maybe you'll spend the money you were going to bet on a delicious flaky pastry instead.

I don't even think that's necessary! You can do a little gambling, as a treat. But you should have to choose to go to the gambling place to do it.

Unfortunately not. Also no drafts, and most mysteriously still no ability to send pictures in DMs or post animated gifs that you upload yourself instead of choosing from a library.

The angriest I have ever been at an essentially good movie was at Long Day's Journey Into Night (dir. Bi Gan, 2018) for using what is probably the most technically impressive shot in the history of cinema to say "I think movies are really neat"

Unfortunately he did not blow up his career doing so (he blew up his career a bit later by being not good at playing baseball) but yes this is him.

He later played for the independent Long Island Ducks and I know multiple people who would go to games just to boo him.

to be fair literally no one ever questions a locked door with an "employees" sign in a museum and you could hide any number of things in there

I appreciate it in principle but every picture of the snags looks like the worst school lunch you've ever seen

Love that he's at his sickest the more normal the movie pitch sounds (The Lobster with all its strange architecture was straightforward and normal by his standards whereas The Favourite and Killing of a Sacred Deer, which on paper could be low-key dramas, are face-meltingly creepy and inscrutable).
