Silicon Valley. My EV is Musk-free.
I was considering a Gazelle, but the $4K price tag is a little hard to swallow give the unremarkable ride and quality. Instead, I rebuilt the battery of my 10 year old Costco e-bike for $120. The old Genze has a nice low mount and by raising the handlebar a more comfortable upright ‘Dutch’ ride.

Move fast and break things: now at 36,000 ft.
The United 737 was apparently hit by a WindBorne Systems weather balloon, cracking the windshield and injuring a pilot. The startup's idea is good. Hundreds drifting through airways and falling as waste: not so much. spectrum.ieee.org/amp/ai-weath...

Inderdaad storend. Op deze boekomslag hing die linker straalkachel nog horizontaal, dus een of andere installateur heeft dat verplaatst.

Here in California solar generated 70% (17GW) of power at noon yesterday. But a few hours later at the evening peak renewables dropped to <10%. Batteries supply ~20% of evening peak demand already.
The daily solar supply is more reliable than in Europe.

The per-capita electricity usage dropped significantly in the UK; much more than in neighboring countries. That could be a sign of deindustrialization, as households consume less than 1/3rd.

Great source of data! Striking that the UK per capita electricity use dropped 45% while in the Netherlands it barely changed. A symptom of deep deindustrialization as most electricity powers industry. The UK focused on service industry, while we Dutch kept our ports, greenhouses, and chemicals.

Comparing the inner cities, Paris indeed holds a whopping 4x more people per km2 than Munich. The Paris metro transports 5x more people than Munich, even though the population of Paris is only 1.25x larger. The maps show each km2 with more than 10K people. Very interesting differences indeed.

Based on the angle, the video was taken at the restaurant location near the south end of the runway.

Very tragic B737 crash in Korea today. The airplane was landing without flaps and gear up, and therefore at a much higher speed. Matching the video to the Google Earth view, touch down was 2/3rd down the 2800m runway, leaving just 1000m to dissipate the kinetic energy.

I had a spectacular view of Silicon Valley after we took off from San Jose in a United A319. Facing north, you can see the entire San Francisco Bay. I annotated the main locations of a few well-known companies.
