I still haven’t read that, shamefully

This was interesting, and not too far from some of the stuff that I’ve been trying to write

I wouldn’t even exist unless I identified as a hardcore kid (and sometimes a metalhead). Aesthetic identity is the only kind of identity I sort of believe in!

You’re lucky!

I think that it was probably intentional in a sense. I wasn't really aware of what I was doing. But I think that having 40 open tabs that were asking me to pay attention to them was probably stressing me out. I feel much better without them!

I let go of it, and that was really for the best!!

We were doing no aesthetics until recently, but this year we will have three aesthetics courses, two Phil of Film courses, and a Phil of Music Course. Shit’s getting real at Georgetown

I’m listening now, and shared on my music account. I’ll also share it with friends in a discord server with several folks who do noise and field recording stuff!

This is wicked cool

Will do! This is Bryce, by the way. It’s been a minute!

Seems plausible. I mean, a lot of those tabs had been open for a year or more. So it’s not likely that I was going back to them anyway

And with this reminder, the novice achieved awakening

I also opened another window after I did that, so I can’t do the trick that would usually work. But I’m treating it as a hard reset and I’m ok with it

Now I am free

It was on my iPad…

Surprisingly, I’m pro-Chomsky-ish. I find language to be one of the thorniest issues in the mind sciences, and I think something close to a Minimalist framework is about the only story that has any hope of being plausible. How you reconcile that with neuroscience is a mystery though…

Georges would not like my classes

I do a lot of laying out positions and alternatives as we walk through this space. It will also be the first day of lecture with no reading—there I’ll highlight the complexity of biology and culture, and the diverse ways that people have tried to tackle that (computational, dynamic, enactive, etc)
November 4, 2025 at 10:10 PM
There’s not much, but I’ve often done biological preparedness in this course, and think the evolutionary stuff is critically important, but I prefer Wrangham, Hrdy, and stuff on that end of the pool. They’ll hear about that stuff when we discuss nonhuman primates and evolutionary continuity

Here’s a way to skip that thought experiment: skip that thought experiment! It never led to new experimental results, or new approaches to scientific methodology

lol…my views on everything are a bit…you know
