I was going to say it’s shocking but I’m no longer the slightest bit surprised by anything trumpalike Starmer does or the depths to which he will sink.

IMO he’s far worse than a disappointment; his terrible judgement, lack of principles and integrity, and pandering, as evidenced on this case, are positively dangerous in such febrile, uncertain times.

It’s extremely disturbing. More broadly, I’m completely fed up with planning being blamed for blocking growth and house building. This govt doesn’t understand the principles of sustainable devt, ie social & economic objectives as well as environmental, & that balancing these is essential.
