Chicago has had one 9/11 worth of people disappeared since the attacks began in September. Los Angeles has had two 9/11s since June.

Gifted a ticket to the Faint. Walk into Big Star down the street for a snack. They’re playing the Faint. Perf. Followed by other early aughts indie classics. Great. 20 mins later the Faint comes on again. Must be artist radio? Thx Big Star!

Got home and randomly tuned into XRT for background music, getting ready for tomorrow morning before bed. Well, 45 minutes later… Neko, old REM, and now fuckin’ Sinead… and Bowie… I’ve been sitting here just listening. Damn you and these bangers, @93xrtchicago.bsky.social.

@chicagocta.bsky.social failing after Riot Fest. 40 minutes and no pink line downtown. Moved from Kedzie to Pulaski and we’ve gotten passed by Express and “not in service” trains. #riotfest certainly does suck when the train can’t keep up.

@chicritmass.bsky.social jonesin’ for the route intel, friends. Hoping that pops up somewhere soon 🙏

There’s this really brutal, bizarrely negative rescue “networker” FB page called It Takes a Village to Save a Life.

They finally blocked me. Who knows why. I was always trying to gently educate their keyboard warriors.

But yeah, please follow them and call out their bullshit on my behalf. TIA!

Was about to say “lucky us, getting to watch Walton Goggins on two shows every week” and then BOOF there’s his wang. No comment. 🥴

Anyways, so stoked for the new Gemstones season. And extra intrigued by his character (and Sam Rockwell!?) after that last ep.

Yay, TV!

Starting to tell random people about this potential masters program plan to 1) manifest its success and 2) hold myself accountable.

Adult Jess loves the idea of being the overachieving, focused student that passionate, unmedicated, neurodivergent young Jess had no chance of ever being.

Back at CACC after 2 weeks away (I’d go everyday if I could) & it feels so heavy there. Intake has skyrocketed, lovely dogs disappear everyday.

But I met some amazing new pups, cried over losing one the vols tried so hard to free, & gave another a rescue ride to OTAT. ❤️‍🩹

Hug your furbabies, y’all.

Working on writing silent auction package descriptions for One Tail’s Houndstooth Ball and, hooboy, there are so so many awesome things! If I had disposable income, they’d be getting so much of it.

Auction launches online next Monday!

@chicagodpd.bsky.social Will the recording of today’s CCL meeting that’s eventually shared include visual aids? There’s nothing in the live feed.

Spent all day yesterday judging a history fair (5.5 hours IRL + 4 prep & post) and all day today working on a project for OTAT’s big deal annual fundraiser. And tomorrow is my first ever 12-hour day on set. With Tues & Wed being the same. I don’t think I’m going to make it to Thursday. Halp. 💩😵‍💫💩

So, Yelle is playing Chicago October 8 and now I really need Best Friends Forever Fest to at the very least announce the 2025 dates because I have a feeling it’ll be 10/10-10/12 and tacking on a Wednesday night show to the start of 5-6 days of PTO feels excessive right now. 💸

At Cole’s for @missspoken.bsky.social! (Its new home in case you literally missed it, the show.)

Additionally, this $7 Apex Predator is probably the best bang for your buck in Logan Square. (Being 6.5% and not an a IPA.)

When a heavily perfumed person sits down next to you at the (brewery taproom)… nope. Thanks for making me nauseous and so glad I’m not trying to actually taste this last beer (lager).

Reason #438 working for breweries and being in beer for so long ruined me for normie life.

Finished @joshnoel.bsky.social’s latest last night!

Meaning I laid down in bed, started at pg 27 & read the whole damn thing.

I was so overwhelmed with nostalgia, I couldn’t put it down. (Mostly I needed to hear what happened with Sam. I MISS THAT GUY!!)

This book is a warm hug.

The subhead includes the words Justin Bieber. 😳

As someone who was at the first p4k and continued to go every year (barring weddings or complete lack of funds), “commercial pop” was not on that fest’s dance card. Goddamn you, Conde Nast.

In Mike Reed’s first interview since Condé Nast pulled the plug, he talked to WBEZ about why the writing had been on the wall since they took over Pitchfork Media in 2015. Escalating costs from all corners of the industry contributed to the festival’s eventual demise. www.wbez.org/music/2025/0...
Shuttered Pitchfork Fest faced escalating costs, “compromises” in bookings, co-founder says
Mike Reed said the longtime Chicago fest also was burdened by increasing pressure to book commercial pop acts like Justin Bieber.

Helped out a solo foster parent today over my lunch break, walking a dog I met at the city shelter back in December, a week before she was saved by @onetailatatime.bsky.social. Grateful! What a sweetie. She did so well, silently dog curious (hate to say reactive 😂), went right back into her crate. 🩵

I think all the people I know leaving Facebook for Bluesky are going to be sorely disappointed (platforms are apples and oranges). For some reason I don’t feel the culture shock will be as bad for Insta folks.

I only came here for New Twitter & haven’t engaged enough to have a real opinion on it.
