After publishing this article, I've heard from many that CR seems to be using AI to produce dub CCs. Now, thanks to a slip-up CR had with episode 6 dub of The Banished Court Magician, we can say that with 100% certainty: Crunchyroll is using the AI service Ollang.com for its dub closed captions!

The thing about fansubs is regardless of anything else that may be going on, ultimately fansubs are made by someone who *really cares about what they're making*. That actually was true at one time at Crunchyroll. It is not true now.

kind of floored still that frieren has a scene where a demon literally sits down and just repeats that yeah demons are all super evil and monsters and frieren is sooo right. it's not frieren herself thinking this that discomforts me; it'd that demons are repeating it as fact?

frieren is proving to be the type of show that really enthralls me with its presentation (the animation and direction are making this the type of adaptation that does something unique with the source material), but i'm also kind of uncomfortable with the portrayal of demons so far. ._.
