Oh, that latter history started even before the USA's involvement in WWII. Did you know about the 1939 Nazi Rally in Madison Square Garden? America has been sympathetic to fascism pretty much the whole time it's existed.

But it stands on the shoulders of a giant: When NASA published the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image in 2004, it stunned the world of astronomy. A composite of 800 images from exposures totaling 11 days, the deep image of an otherwise unremarkable part of the night sky revealed nearly 10,000 galaxies, many among the most distant known. Now, JWST has observed that same patch of sky with different eyes, and found 2,500 more objects. Crucially, they're even more distant. JWST's new take on the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, named the MIRI Deep Imaging Survey (MIDIS), is the deepest-ever mid-infrared image of that part of the night sky. The extraordinary new image is the result of nearly 100 hours of observing time using the space observatory's Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) and Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). In the video he expressed his skepticism against gender affirming care for trans kids. He called it "tough." After decades of the affirmative model, it is no longer reasonable to be skeptical about GAC for trans kids.

Something folks miss about bigotry: it only has to be unreasonable & stubborn.
dictionary definition of the word bigotry reads: "an obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction, in particular prejudice against the person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group."

Wound up replacing my drum set recently. My old, larger Gretsch Renown Maple drums are superseded by my new, normal-sized Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch kit, which has one additional tom tom. These drums sound so damn good both in the room and under the mics.

Wealthy consumer spending is half of all consumer spending. First, the top 10% of earners are those households that make at least $250,000 a year and go up from there. They’ve been spending a lot, as in almost half (49.7%) of all consumer spending. Thirty years ago, the percentage was about 36%. The high earners increased their spending by 12% between September 2023 and September 2024 at a much faster rate than inflation. Over the last four years, prices were up by 21%. The top 10% of households upped their spending by 58%. The bottom 80% of households increased their spending by 25%, and they had far fewer resources to manage the change. Wealthy consumer spending has never been better. “The finances of the well-to-do have never been better, their spending never stronger and the economy never more dependent on that group,” Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told the Journal.
