I enjoy writing code that generates worlds, and occasionally I get together with friends to make video games.

sqlite is really neat :3 I'm using it to store all my game data, not just character progress but also game elements like cards in the deck and potential outcomes of actions.

One fun result of that is I can edit the DB using existing sqlite tools and see the content update live in the game

I started playing with bearlibterminal recently, it makes me so happy! ASCII graphics but with full control over colors, fonts, and mouse input

I've been using it to make a boardgame-inspired space trader

Also if you switch to dark mode then the map will follow suit :)

It's live!

At first the Wasm was sloooow. The map uses 16-bit floats for elevation, but Wasm only supports 32/64-bit floats! So the compiler was emulating 16-bit floats using integer arithmetic, which unsurprisingly is way slower. I switched to 32-bit floats and now it's fast🎉 #zig #wasm #procgen

Feeling good about the map generator now :) I updated the color palette, added lakes, and made the whole thing run in a loop so it generates a new map every few seconds.

The goal is to run this on my website, so next step is to get it working in Wasm! #procgen #zig

A little map generator I wrote this past week. Right now it's on the desktop but eventually I want to compile to Wasm and embed it on my website.

This is my first time using Zig for anything other than Playdate, and it's been surprisingly pleasant :)

👋 Hi I’m new here. Things I like: procgen, TTRPGs (most recently Root RPG), making games, sketching (poorly), capybaras, raccoons

Recently I’ve been working on making a Playdate game using Zig. You fly a blimp through a cave, avoid spikes, and collect treasure
