my cat has started doing this thing while I'm working where he headbutts my chest and just. leaves his forehead resting there for several minutes.

I've always understood the use of this word in erotic contexts to be somewhat metaphorical.
I imagine a drawn-out noise similar to a whine that expresses a very intense, borderline painful experience. In my head it's also something high pitched and not quite as fullbodied as a wail (onomatopoeia).

If I had a nickle everytime one of y’all fic writers misuses the word keen… it is by definition a MOURNING wail. It is an expression of profound grief— not that grief cannot be horny but it is not the way you ppl are using it. A thesaurus is not your friend.
