I do. I don't like plugging it too much, and I never expect much from it.

Just gives me something to aim for in the foreseeable future while I'm being a caregiver. I keep myself busy in the meantime.

But it is nice to dream.

All of these closures feel poignant and sweet and were better than the abrupt closure of the Corus channels up north.

Never watched them, but I mourn their loss.

And here's Télémagino's closure. It's a Francophonic channel, and it closes up with a montage with a lovely tune playing under it.

You know how a few months ago Corus shut down a bunch of channel with very little fanfare?

Last month, WIldbrain shut down a quartet of their channels up north and, well, they did it with class and gratitude towards the audience.

Here's how Family did it:

Looking at how the Corus channels ended and comparing it to how the Wildbrain channels ended, I am curious about one thing.

How will the US versions of Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and Cartoon Network shut down when those days eventually come?

What would their final messages to their viewers be?

I grew up with shows from Canada on my TV on a regular basis. I've been a fan of Canadian talent, humor, and weirdness. I've seen Nelvana, Mainframe, and Wildbrain rise. Hell, as an American, I've never watched YTV, but I know their slogan was "Keep It Weird."

Embrace that, and I'll run with you!
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

INFINITY TRAIN was an incredible kid's show and should be held in the same esteem as something like OVER THE GARDEN WALL or ADVENTURE TIME.

'Sleeping Beauty' flopped in 1959, leading to cutbacks of the animation department in favor of theme parks, to make animation production faster/cheaper. Much of the women were the Ink & Department, yes, but getting rid of women were not why the cuts were made.

Please stop spreading misinfo, thanks.
the reason 101 dalmations looks like that is because disney incorporated xerography (ie early photocopying technology) into the animation process. rough pencils (by mostly male animators) were copied onto the cels so that disney could fire the (mostly female) inkers. remember that art can lie to you

Still thinking about how I read probably the best blueprint to create a cohesive modern reinvention of the Universal Monsters franchise earlier in the week from a dude who just casually threw it at me, and the only thing I could utter after reading the whole thing was "Holy crap!"

I'm suddenly reminded of that anime A.I.C.O. -Incarnation- Netflix had dubbed in Miami only to throw it out a few months later and redub it in Los Angeles. Presumably because the studio used an ESL voice cast.

It sucks how much AI has allowed companies, no matter how shallow or deep their pockets, to throw quality control out the window. After decades of endlessly scrutinizing the people who produce their products for them to sell, suddenly they don’t care anymore.

These companies owe fandubbers an apology.
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

Sound advice from a great dude and an incredibly brilliant creator.
1. You don't have to draw like a professional Marvel/DC Comics artist.

2. Stuff like Funny Animal comics and comics with Saturday morning camp need to make a major comeback.

3. Let comics be goofy and stupid again.

4. Comics should go back to having simpler art styles.
Anyone have a particularly hot comic take?

I think a lot about the time I had to warn students about ICE being said to be in the area and to use the buddy system when they go out and to not risk walking around alone during night classes

Thinking about how scared they were/are while hiding it amongst other peers has rattled me more than once

I can’t help but worry about my students with green cards and visas who only came here to learn and be. Things feel encroachingly and increasingly unsafe for anyone of color.

I know which ones travel because I listen and I genuinely hope they are safe. ❤️🫤
