RIP Udo Kier. I loved him in many things but he's particularly great opposite River Phoenix in My Own Private Idaho. Later he appeared again with Keanu Reeves in Johnny Mnemonic.

Perhaps it is time to watch Spermula in honor of his divers oeuvre. I think he had a lot of fun in his career.

OpenAI has made a decision to encourage its users to form a parasocial relationship with ChatGPT. It's gross and dangerous. Also just not useful for serious use. But it will make their user's more loyal and build a dependency in a few of them.

Chrome now has a bug where if a web page pops up "log in with Google" it happens in the browser UI, not in the web page UI. And it freezes things up enough so Ctrl-W no longer works to close the tab while the "log in" dialog is displayed.

Good jerb! I suspect this is related to some […]

Grindr now is awash in spam for Twitter profiles. All named DTF, all fake-looking femme images. Grindr isn't trying very hard to stop spam.

Wikipedia informs me Jabberwocky was originally a parody of Anglo-Saxon Poetry and þis form is delightful.

And þe mome raths outgrabe.

Just set up Plexamp and am really impressed. Basically gives me a Spotify-like experience with my own personal music collection. Loving the "play music of this genre" and "this mood" features. It's a nice complete product, a pleasant addition to Plex.

Congratulations to the rest of Mastodon getting quote posts! I've been enjoying them for a year+ thanks to the fantastic @phanpy client. If you've never tried it, give it a shot, it's a really nice UI for Fedi.

Just found a unique spammy / cloaking result on Kagi's search engine to a web page published in the last week. It is identical to the same unique result on Google. It does not exist on Bing. I take this as evidence Kagi search sometimes uses Google search. (Unfortunately can't share the search […]

Toilet model names are something else. What would you rather shit into?
A Kohler "Memoirs Stately"? Perhaps you are daring enough for an "Intrepid"?
If you want something more personified, Toto offers "Guinevere" or "Carolina".

I know several people in Chicago and the stories they are telling about interacting with ICE are just horrifying. School parties cancelled, people they know being kidnapped, constant vigilance to react to ICE attacking their neighbors.

TIL that % routing of email (ie: `nelson%example.com@relayserver.com` is basically dead and gone. It mostly hasn't worked for years because of spam issues but modern mail systems don't even recognize it. Source routes got deprecated in RFC 2821 (from 2001) and fully removed in RFC 5321 (2008).
