He's trying to hide it but the slime trails to and from his apartment, coupled with his insistence that he's allergic to my salted peanuts but fine with the unsalted ones and the 47 heads of lettuce I helped him carry into his apartment sure seem weird

The “google is using your email to train AI” debacle is imo most instructively seen as tracer dye for multiple failures: many people are instinctively skeptical of tech companies now; and many outlets that should have had experts able to cogently weigh in and go “wait a minute” simply don’t anymore.

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.

this is really the big thing with congress, and frequently a problem that plagues those associated with congress (staffers, reporters, etc): how things are different behind closed doors, and the public just doesn't get it.
