I'm a fat, sarcastic Star Trek fan trying to be less fat and more sarcastic. I write code (mostly C#) and manage teams. All opinions are mine.
Also, it's late and this thread has been full of spelling errors, poor English, and way too many commas. Sorry. I will attempt to do better when I'm properly awake.

Oh, addendum: the old LaserJet is available for sale at an eye-wateringly low price to anyone willing to collect it from SE9. Will be going up on Facebook Marketplace soon.

Wow. Inkjet technology has clearly moved on a bit since I last experienced it. This thing is FAST. And the print quality, while not quite laser-level, is really good. So now I have a printer that I can store on a shelf until the rare occasion that I need it. Truly I am winning at life. 7/7

If you're spotting a pattern here, you're not wrong. Anyway, today I was clearing out my dining room (don't ask) and I found the Amazon box with the printer in, so I thought, why not? and unpacked it and set it up. 6/7

But I do still have the occasional need to print something. As much as I prefer laser printers, I don't have room for a permanent printer set up. So I bought one of these new-fangled (to me) HP ColourJet portable battery-powered inject printers. It's been in its box for about six months. 5/7

So I have the ability to scan, which I need to do once in a blue moon. I got the Canon out of the box and set it up and proved it works, then it went on a shelf where I expect it will stay for a while. If it breaks, basic scanners are dirt-cheap now. 4/7

Now, as it happens, I have had a Canon scanner in its box, unopened, since 2013. I was going to use it to scan a bunch of photos. Then I bought the LaserJet (which is also a scanner) and I intended to use that. Naturally, I didn't, and I left the Canon in its box but inexplicably kept it around. 3/7

It's still on the toner cartridges that came with it, and the black toner is still at 40%, so I wouldn't say it's been the best investment. Nice printer, shame about the weight and area it takes up. So I decided to get rid of it and free that space up. 2/7

24.7 in my office here, but it's 21 downstairs and since it's colder overnight the furniture gets cold and my feet get chilly... heating started to come on via thermostat a couple of weeks back. Now I'm using an IR heating panel in the living room as well, to allow for shirt-sleeve lounging.

Which I just did. Again.

Would that I were as disciplined as you.

I just leave mine on the thermostat and let it make its own mind up. I will freely admit that my toes are a bit chilly.

I’d really like to see a completely scene for scene, word for word adaptation of the Hitchhiker’s books. That’s one example where deviations from the source material - other than by Adams himself - would be sacrilegious (looking at you, both attempts at Dirk Gently).

Most of the others, I haven’t read the books, so it’s easier to enjoy it as a standalone thing. There are book series I’ve read that I would love to see adapted. Charlie Stross’ Laundry Files, for one.

It’s a question of degrees. Foundation on TV is quite far removed from the books, and that’s being generous. Don’t get me wrong, I like what Goyer has done, and I’m still enjoying it. Slightly nervous about the new production team for season 4 though.
