Telegraph music critic. Author. Opinionated hack. Failed rock star.
Went to the opening night of Camille O'Sullivan at the Soho Theatre. The Irish chanteuse is such a high wire act, she seems to be coming apart and reassembling herself in songs by Bowie, Cave, Radiohead, Brel, Sinead & Shane McGowan. Somewhere between interpretive masterclass & a nervous breakdown.

Upstairs downstairs. The Grand Ole Opry came to the Royal Albert Hall in London. Looks like someone was trying to drill into Marty Stuart's dressing room.

Incredible night at Ronnie Scott's jazz club with Raye vamping it up. She's a next level talent who could have been a star in any pop era.

Went to see Stereophonic at Duke of York theatre in london yesterday. It's a bafflingly much praised award winning player blatantly based on the making of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours. Have to say, I think it's for people who have never been in a recording studio or read a copy of Mojo before.

My new Music, War & Peace podcast is out with Mike Scott of The Waterboys, one of my favourite songwriters, an amazing bandleader, and always a fascinating interviewee ... seen here challening my overuse of the word "peace" 😉. That's telling me! Links here pods.link/thebridgemus...

I have saved it, and I understand the notion, but what a lot of artists don't realise is the amount of data these links expect fans to give up. It may even ne scaremongering by Spotify but this is what you are greeted with when you hit presave ... 😳
