Getting an undergrad and worried that I lack systemic analysis, meanwhile people just log on and announce to the world that they get their politics from sitcoms.

Hey sweet thang,

This is your reminder that every living thing in the world slows down during these next months. You’re not lazy cuz you’re doing less. It’s okay that the early darkness makes you tired (it’s supposed to).

Humans the only ones who keep fighting against the natural patterns of life.
what a legend, love to hear he'a sill kicking

under woke 2 everyone will learn the IPA so i never have to decipher a dictionary's bespoke phonetic spelling monstrosity again
oh my god i've been yelling this at friends and they keep trying to sound it out with letters like there aren't english speakers from multiple continents who will read those 7 different ways i am so tired.
you could even install it on your machine to give it a try. A very helpful thing is that you will be able to try out the OS in a live environment before installing it so you can make sure that everything works and that you like it without committing to a blind install
If you have a high budget, you could go for a Framework laptop, which is made to have great Linux support (though you can realistically install it on any regular modernish PC). If you're going to change computers, have backed up all important data and are ok with wiping your current drive, then
Imo Linux Mint is the ideal system in terms of reliability and user-friendliness. I've installed it for both of my parents, who are not good with and not interested in computers, and they use it just fine.

i think linux is starting to CLI-pill me, using a terminal app is so pleasant and fast. maybe we as a species were never meant to spend minutes using the mouse to clunkily and cumbersomely navigate GUIs to perform tasks that should take seconds
aaah very handsome friend jumpscare!

I think I'm insane for what you'd typically call normal reasons - imbalance in the humors, melancholia and so on - but also there's something of the Lovecraftian consideration (not the racisms) where once you know some things, that knowledge fundamentally changes how you interact with the world.
