My arms ache down to the bones. Right elbow has a tendonitis flare, so not unexpected, but the left? I'm assuming the temp in my work space being below 60F, plus weather changes. Bodies are dumb.

Me: I'll be good and stop reading my book, despite there being under an hour left, so I can go to bed earlyish.

Also me, more than an hour later: doom scrolled then started another book.

Does it strike anyone as weird that we have a ratings board that counts the number of times a movie says fuck or shows a boob and decides who is allowed to see it, and yet GenAI was dropped on the entire with no restrictions, no age verification, no checks, no regulation whatsoever?

I know my duty: I provided horizontal(ish) human time for Tatum, while Her Human is away. She was Very Pleased. I got ALL the purrs. And then I was a monster and evicted her (after 1.5 hrs). #cats

Low energy day, so, while I managed to get the turkey cooked, going with just leftover roasted garlic mashed potatoes and microwaved peas as sides. Might make the planned crostata later, or just eat straight whipped cream for dessert.

I like how full text search of every book and human thought ever was a SOLVED PROBLEM in 2001, and now dicks at search engines and my own phone – a piece of silicon faster to respond than God was ever imagined in scripture – prevent it from working, _as a retroactive infantilizing design choice_.

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that one of the main impacts of LLMs is to disrupt thinking: to make it so that far too many people never properly learn how to do it, and then to control the output so there are thoughts that people never learn how to think.
