The Duke of York has been stripped of his title. No longer will he march his men to the top of the hill and march them down again.

So we're all agreed now -- five days rest for Crochet, right?

Anyone remember a national uproar when Minnesota Democratic state rep Melissa Hortman, her husband, and their pet dog were shot to death in their home by a right-wing killer. I don't remember one either. How could that be?

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

Rupert Murdoch is opening up a new paper, the California Post, a close cousin of the NYP. Sure, maybe Voldemort is coming, but, presumably, also a bunch of much-needed newspaper jobs.

Iran can "never be allowed" to have a nuclear weapon is the assertion we keep hearing. Who does the "allowing?" The same people who "allowed" North Korea to have 50? Pakistan and India to have a combined 350? Who allowed the U.S. to have 5,277?

Most of the journalists who use the term "dive bar" don't understand the term. It doesn't refer to a regular, unadorned tavern or a neighborhood place. I don't think said journos have ever been in a real dive bar.

I never thought I'd hear an American president call for ethnic cleansing. Shows how I haven't adjusted to the new order.

When you're transcribing an interview, I don't think you should substitute "gonna" for "going to," no matter how the subject. Maybe if you're going to print every single idiomatic pronunciation in your piece. Otherwise it reads as unprofessional.

I finally caught up with Conclave. I hadn't known it was a farce.

Missing a lot of Celtics these days. But I'm especially missing Dave Cowens, his energy and concentration, and wondering what he thinks of this current group of Celtics.

...Mazzula doesn't seem to have any plays that can go up successfully against a zone defense. And I don't know whether it's him or the players, but the Celtics seem to be ill-prepared for almost every game. Time to go, Joe.

The Celtics must fire Joe Mazzula. It's a matter of winning a championship or, worse, even going deep into the playoffs. Simply put he's the worst in-game coach Boston has ever had. Coming out of time outs or half times, the team plays the exact same (bad) way they did going in.

Never liked the people who slagged off on the Kennedys. Partly because it usually depended on speculation about their private lives and many of the folks who did it were making a good living out of it.
But when it comes to RFK, Jr., slag away.

Has Tim Burton going the way of Blake Edwards, when he could get Pink Panther money but nothing else? Is that what Burton is going through with "Beetlejuice?" In movie making terms, that would be tragic.

Luis Tiant didn't get into the Baseball Hall of Fame yet again. Just another reason not to take the place seriously. I get irritated at myself for giving it even this much attention.

When discussing politics, some people get politics, morality, and ethics mixed up. Setting aside the argument, Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter is right on all three.

No one is more relieved that Matt Gaetz's nomination was withdrawn than Sen. Susan Collins. The senator from Maine has long declared that she won't vote for this or that GOP bill or nominee and then gone on to vote aye. All the time. Talks the talk but never walks the walk.
