In US presidential elections, people "vote," but then the leader of the country is actually chosen by a small group of elites who comprise the electoral college, whose members have zero obligation to vote in accordance with voters' choices. So, that would be a "no" on democracy, seems to me.

I often hear the US can't be considered a real democracy until after the Civil Rights movement & Voting Rights Act. I'd go further & say we're not a democracy till partisan gerrymandering is outlawed (or preferably, banned by Constitutional Amendment). Until then, claims of US democracy are a joke.

Ever since the GOP controlled Congress passed a bill requiring the USPS to have a dollar, in savings, to cover every pension dollar. They have been unable to function.
One might think the Congress did this to kill the USPS and force people to use things like FEDEX that are publicly traded...

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
