“We’re gonna win, Jessie.” The buff asari assured him. A somber look was in Jessie’s eyes but he shook it off and looked up at Leena, smiling.

“We’re Phantom squad. Of course we’ll win. As long as we’re together, there’s no one we can’t protect.” He answered.

“Yeah, she was. I just hope her parents take care of her and help her find her way….and that there’s a galaxy for her to find her way in after this war.” The redhead sighed, watching the child and her family’s shuttle take off, the girl waving at him through the window.

Jessie and Leena used their biotics to get the trio up onto the roof before clearing the buildings and directing all the civilians to the evacuation shuttles.

“That kid was pretty impressive. Like some other human I know.” Leena said cheekily, nudging Jessie’s shoulder.

The girl nodded and Jessie pet her on the head assuringly.

“An amp will help with them once you’re older. For now, you need rest. Maybe a bit of chocolate. I found that helped me a lot growing up without an amp. For now, let’s get you and your parents out of here.”

Jessie walked back over to Leena and the child as her parents rushed into the hall and scooped up the girl in their arms. He smiled as he reached them, ruffling the girl’s hair.

“We’re evacuating everyone from the planet. Our shuttle is right above us. We’ll get you to safety.”

She held her as Jessie charged into the engineer, hitting him with enough force to send him flying while grabbing the hilt of Dauntless, severing the hand all the way as the human biotic stopped in his tracks. He scraped the blood off his blades and put them back on his hips.

“Stopping you,” he said as his biotics flickered around him. The redhead made a simple flick of his wrist and sent the thrown sword flying into the engineer’s wrist, causing him to drop the pistol and scream in pain. Leena grasped the child with her biotics and pulled her close.
