Instead of working to reopen the government, Trump is using his spare time to go after his political enemies. We need to speak up.
The tools & tactics ICE is using to arrest US citizens & thousands who pose no threat have existed for decades in misguided immigration laws passed in 1990s. We can enforce civil immigration laws w/o chaos & fear but that requires Congress to step up & finally amend those laws.
The entire incident is infuriating and terrifying. She’s a Latina woman who was working a service job. On her way home late at night, with her headphones in, she was detained for an hour by masked federal agents who wouldn’t give her their names.

Interesting. The Tooele Co. Sheriff has expressed concern about ICE poaching deputies during 287g training.

Yet another decision holding this. With the exception of a single bad 2nd Circuit decision surrounding Byrne JAG grants in Trump 1.0, the Trump admin has a near-perfect losing streak on imposing immigration enforcement conditions on federal grants.
Fed. judge holds that it violated the APA and the Spending Clause for Trump administration to condition federal grants to states on whether they were cooperating in immigration enforcement.
