I'm back and it's day 19 of classes 🙂

I learned the basics of Unreal Engine 5 and created this small scene with my barrel model to practice lighting and rendering.

I think it looks pretty good 💪

Day 15. This is as far as I got with the rock but I doubt that I will have more time to spend on it. Next week we'll learn a bit about unreal engine and rendering so I might not have something to show every day 🙂

Still experimenting with Zbrush not so successfully. But I made a lowpoly of the runestone and baked it in Substance Painter.

Looks kind of washed out but hey man #Zbrush is hard to get the hang of.

Day 11 of classes 🖌️

I worked with #Zbrush for the first time today. I'll be using a pressure pen but Zbrush is difficult to get used to for sure.

I'll be creating a runestone for class but so far I only have the blockout down, with crappy low resolution 😆

Day 9 and I'm done with the texturing. It's not perfect but I've tweaked it a lot and I think for my first ever try of creating materials from scratch it looks good enough!

Yesterday was a total bust so today counts as day 8 of class 😆

Still working on the barrel texture. Today I added a decal from the school on the top. Tried to make it look like it's branded into the wood 🤔

I also found some errors I'll have to fix tomorrow.

Day 7 of classes. Created a metal material for the barrel hoops.

Not sure how realistic the rust turned out. In the second picture, you can see the material I made without rust (left) next to the premade one I used before (right).

I created the wood texture on the left and compared it to the pre-made one I used before. I like it.

Day 4 of barrel project: small side model - a crate!

All previous steps repeated on a simple crate model: Creating the high and low poly meshes and baking the details on the low poly (and a little test with pre-made materials).

Day 3 of creating a #3D barrel for class.

Low poly mesh created today (2k tris as opposed to 200k high poly) and details baked onto it.

The materials are just a test with the default ones in Substance 3D Painter.

Day 2 of #3D modeling a barrel for class.

Today I did the high poly, with color ID for baking onto the low poly.

I would go for some more details if I had more time but as a beginner I'm working more slowly and just trying to absorb all the information and learn the software.

Day 1 of creating a #3D barrel for class.

For the high poly, the staves (planks) and hoops are created in a straight line to then be bent into a circular form.

This was my second #3Dart project and was fully done in Autodesk Maya. I followed Game Dev Academy's beginner tutorial for #Maya and I familiarized myself with the software in preparation for a bootcamp I'm starting!

Everything is modeled by me, but textures are downloaded from freePBR.

My first ever #3d work done fully in #blender using Blender Guru's donut tutorial. The focus of the tutorial was to learn the software and create the donuts and the plate, but the background is all downloaded assets.
