We know that just a day or two in pretrial detention can destabilize a person's life for years and make communities less safe. There is no evidence supporting the detention of people in the name of public safety.
With the support of 6,691 individual donors, we raised $468,587 and bailed out 67 Black mamas and caregivers.
One of those women was nine months pregnant. Because of your support, she was able to give birth safely, unshackled and surrounded by her family, not alone in a cage.
