It always surprises me how people think generating new heat is more efficient than using existing heat.

Oh right, yous guys use gas. We are fully electrical so to me it was the same thing. I have never used gas for heating or cooking. Our grid gets less to handle with more heat pump usage. My heat pump never went above 500w of power usage while my heaters would have used more and often not been enough

Sure but if you spend X amount on heating and you have a technology that is more efficient your insulation is a separate issue.

E.g. I use 1000w to heat my home and you have to use 2000w for a similar home. If the new tech is 50% better i will use 500w and you 1000w but we both save money.

Finland and Norway don't really have proper sun during winter but both are countries with the most heat pumps per capita. It was -2 yesterday and i spent about 9kwh in 24 hours on my heat pump to warm up my first story vs the 2.3kw or more per hour for a normal heater.

Ive seen a few tax forms and medical insurance things from Americans over the years online. From the looks of things they pay about the same as us as a % of salary.

Someone should tell all the heat pump makers that guarantee 1:1 down to -25C about that.
